Buzzing with Purpose: InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa Marks World Bee Day in Style

1st May 2025 (Natadola, Fiji): This May, the award-winning InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa will once again be abuzz with the golden hum of sustainability, launching its annual celebration of World Bee Day on 20th May with immersive, honey-themed experiences for guests throughout the month. As eco-conscious travel continues to shape the future of luxury tourism, the resort is carving out a distinctive niche – becoming one of Fiji’s only hotels to embed bee conservation into the guest journey year-round.

Set against the backdrop of Natadola Bay’s lush gardens and pristine reef coastlines, over one million honeybees live in harmony with nature across 21 active hives on the property. Their golden yield? Natadola Bay Honey – an exclusive, hyperlocal honey that has become a signature of the guest experience and a symbol of the resort’s commitment to IHG’s Journey to Tomorrow sustainability agenda.

A Sweet Retreat with Purpose

Running from 1–31 May 2025, the program is timed to align with the internationally recognised World Bee Day (20 May), reinforcing the global importance of bees and biodiversity in the face of growing climate concerns. With pollinator populations declining worldwide, InterContinental Fiji’s honey project – supported by on-property harvesting, native flora planting, and guest education – puts the spotlight on small actions with big impact.

Guests can don a beekeeper’s suit and step inside the buzzing heart of the apiary on the Bee-Happy Experience, then indulge in a curated honey high tea overlooking the ocean. This unique and interactive experience will be held twice a week throughout May.  

Spa-goers can unwind with the resort’s Natadola Bay Honey Ritual, blending wellness with the healing properties of raw honey. Even breakfast becomes an act of connection, with freshly harvested honeycomb served at the morning buffet – a taste of place in its purest form.

From cocktail menus laced with honey syrup to artisan pastries inspired by native blooms, the culinary team will also bring the theme to life with edible storytelling. It’s experiential luxury at its finest – grounded in purpose, and proudly Fijian.  

Extending the Buzz to Suva

The month-long celebration extends beyond Natadola Bay to Fiji’s capital, with Grand Pacific Hotel Suva joining in through select culinary activations. Guests can enjoy a taste of InterContinental Fiji’s signature honey in the decadent Natadola Honey Almond Cake, as well as two specially crafted cocktails – the Golden Bula and the Suva Sunset Honey Punch – connecting travellers across both destinations through a shared commitment to sustainability.
