FNPF-owned IHG Hotels & Resorts raise funds and awareness for Fiji Cancer Society

21st November 2023 (Natadola, Fiji): In a display of community support, three FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels & Resorts, including InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva, have successfully raised FJ$5,000 for the Fiji Cancer Society through a series of Pinktober fundraising initiatives.

Throughout the month of October, the hotels engaged guests and colleagues in various activities, all aimed at raising awareness and funds for Fiji Cancer Society’s fight against cancer in Fiji.

“We are delighted that our Pinktober initiatives across the three hotels in Fiji have raised FJ$5,000 for the Fiji Cancer Society. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed, helping us make a meaningful impact towards Fiji Cancer Society’s efforts in the battle against cancer,” commented Lachlan Walker, Portfolio General Manager – IHG Hotels & Resorts, FNPF Owned Hotels.

The range of fundraising initiatives in the month of October included a Pink Beach Party in Natadola, signature cocktails, exclusive Pinktober-themed patisserie selections, spa journeys, and healthy menu options.

The iconic Grand Pacific Hotel further illuminated Breast Cancer Awareness Month by lighting up in pink on Friday, October 13th, 2023, symbolising solidarity with those affected by cancer. This event was organised in partnership with the Fiji Cancer Society and included invited guests, colleagues and the media.

“Cancer profoundly impacts the lives of many in Fiji, and this FJ$5,000 contribution is crucial in supporting our advocacy, awareness, and patient support initiatives. The ongoing partnership and dedication of FNPF-owned IHG Fiji Hotels and their guests is truly commendable. Together, we are making a significant impact in the fight against cancer, bringing hope to those affected.” commented Belinda Chan, Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Cancer Society.

In addition to the financial contribution, the hotels conducted several colleague health and well-being initiatives including health checks with the Ministry of Health & Medical Services, a blood drive, gold coin donation cans, as well as an awareness session with a representative from the Fiji Cancer Society and a cancer survivor.

As Pinktober concludes, the success of these initiatives underscores the power of tourism’s collective action in making a positive impact on the health and well-being of the community. This is tied in with IHG's global Journey to Tomorrow responsible goals. Learn more here.
